It is vitally important that students attend school every day, unless they need to be absent due to illness.
Regular attendance is a critical factor in the success of your child at school. Attendance for all students from Pre-primary to Year Six is compulsory. In Kindergarten, although not compulsory, we strongly encourage regular attendance. The school will follow up all unexplained absences, including in Kindergarten. Please note that all instances of vacation that occur inside school terms are classified as unauthorised absences. The school policy is to not provide work for students to complete during their family holidays as this sends the message that the school condones such absences.

Absences for reasons other than illness, or for duration of more than 5 school days must be requested in writing, addressed for the attention and consideration of the Principal and sent to riva.ps@education.wa.edu.au
School attendance is recorded promptly from our commencement time of 8.40am. Students arriving after this time are deemed to be late and must be signed in through the school office and the attendance record adjusted.
The school management system will send SMS notifications of unexplained student absences at approximately 10.00am on school days. The SMS will contain a unique, secure and one-time use link to provide the reason for the absence. Please do not reply directly to the SMS as it is a virtual number with no capacity to receive incoming messages.
